The Ottawa Senators season is finally back! With that, Alex takes a look at the first seven games that have been played. Diving into trends, what happened, and where the team goes from here. To help him, Spencer Blake joins the podcast! Spencer is a previous guest and the two get straight to work.
They highlight the anxiety some of the fan base may have had when the team started 0-2. With shades of years past, where it took over 13 games to hit five wins, fans were a little worried this may be the same. However, Ottawa rattled off four wins in a row on an epic homestand to start their season right.
Join Alex and Spencer as they highlight some unfortunate injuries for the Senators, how they want to see those replaced, and what they have thought of each line, pairing, and player during this Ottawa Senators season so far.

Alex and Chace are back with another week of content. Last week, they looked at some trends from around the league and what they were interested in keeping an eye on this season. However, they move on to what they are excited to actually watch this season. Taking a page from the Hockey PDOcast, the guys give their Watchability rankings. More accurately, Alex has a list of 2022-23 NHL teams he looks forward to watching, in order from least to most exciting.
Chace is then assisting in giving some higher-level thoughts on each team as to why the placement of Alex's ranking does or doesn't make sense. He also gives any opinion of his own on that team and if he plans on tuning into any of their games throughout the season. The guys go through all 32 teams, factoring in players, systems, and overall vibes of the team, to give their complete 2022-23 NHL Teams to watch ranking.

Sunday Oct 09, 2022
Alex is back for another episode! Today is his final episode before the 2022-23 Ottawa Senators season gets underway. To help him preview everything, friend of the podcast Derek Lee makes his return. Derek hasn't been on the podcasts since the start of last season, so the two discuss how different of a feeling it is entering this year.
Last year, the Sens were coming off of a disappointing offseason which soon translated into a brutal start. However, this year has been the exact opposite. Obviously, the results are undetermined so far, but the offseason has been nothing but positive. The guys look at the forwards, defence, and goaltending. Giving their opinion on all three of them and highlighting what they are excited about, as well as what they are worried about.
Overall, the guys agree that they are very excited about this season. Something that truthfully hasn't been the case for the past few years. Stay with the Last Word on Sens podcast all year for analysis and opinions!

2022 Atlantic Division Preview
Wednesday Oct 05, 2022
Wednesday Oct 05, 2022
Alex and Chace are back with their final preview episode of the year. Today, they take a look at the 2022 Atlantic Division preview. Obviously, this was bound to be one of their longer episodes, with Alex and Chace's favourite teams in this division. However, they wanted to make sure they were giving each team an appropriate amount of time.
As always, they start at the bottom of the division, predicting who they believe will come last. Alex believes he has a hot take about the eighth-place team in the division, but after talking with Chace, he realizes it may not be that hot after all. The guys work their way up the division, discussing each team and what to expect from them this year. What makes it a successful season? If they were to make the playoffs, how does it happen?
At the end, they briefly discuss some surprises they have seen from different projection models on Twitter, as well as give their Stanley Cup Finals predictions.

2022 NHL Metro Division Preview
Friday Sep 30, 2022
Friday Sep 30, 2022
Alex and Chace are back with another loaded week of content. Today, the guys preview the 2022 Metro Division preview. However, there are three big names that retired this past week that they need to touch on first. To do that, they go through each player's career and discuss what their legacy will be. From there, they also look at a trio of player signings. Some massive contract news was released for Nathan MacKinnon. The guys give their opinion on that. As well as a contract that Alex is nowhere near as fond of.
Finally, they get to the division preview. As always, starting with the teams near the bottom that they feel will be tanking for a high pick this year and working their way up. One thing is clear, multiple teams in the division this year will be disappointed. There are too many playoff-hopeful teams for the math to work out. It will be interesting to see who is left out of the picture when it is all said and done.

Tyler Motte Contract and Professional Tryouts
Thursday Sep 29, 2022
Thursday Sep 29, 2022
Alex is back with another episode before the season starts. Today, he takes a look at the Tyler Motte contract and gives his opinions on the player and what it means for the team. Usually, he would have a guest with him to help break down the signing and give their opinion as well. But today, Alex is going solo. In a much shorter episode than usual, Alex felt it was important to post something but couldn't find anyone last minute.
After the Motte deal, Alex switches his focus to two professional tryouts that Ottawa signed. Those are Derick Brassard and Michael Dal Colle. Jumping into why PTOs are a good call for any team, Alex examines both player's career paths. Obviously, Sens fans know Brassard very well. However, some may not know just how weird of a career he has had since leaving Ottawa in 2018. Alex looks at where both players come from and what their role may be if they were to join the Sens on an actual contract this season.

2022-23 Pacific Division Preview
Monday Sep 19, 2022
Monday Sep 19, 2022
Alex and Chace are back for Week Two of their preview series. Last week, they took a look at what the Central Division had in store. However, this week they shift their focus to the 2022 Pacific division. Like always, Alex and Chace go through each team and give their thoughts on the upcoming season.
They begin with teams they view will be at the bottom of the division, usually the rebuilding teams. Today, the guys actually disagree on the placement of a few teams in the middle of this division, leading to some interesting debate. They even have a different top four, although the division leader they do agree on. Team by team, they go through and describe what a successful season will look like for each franchise. Overall, they predict where each team will finish and why. The common outcome is that the Pacific may be more interesting than last week's Central Division. With a few solid-looking teams and overall better depth throughout.

Alex is back with another episode of the Last Word on Sens podcast. With a relatively quiet August, he took most of the month off. However, there has been some massive news lately and the podcast is back! Making his return to the podcast to assist Alex is Steve on Sens. Today, the two start by looking at the Tim Stutzle contract and why it is crucial to the Sens rebuild. Both Alex and Steve give their takes on why they like the deal, along with any potential risk it may include.
From there, they also look at the Erik Brannstrom deal and explain why this may actually seal his time as an Ottawa Senator. What do they want to see from Brannstrom and his usage this year? Is there anything that can save his time in Ottawa? Finally, they ask the question of is this defence core good enough as is. The two dive into that topic, looking at how this core could be used this season.
