The 'In the Bin' rugby pod returns with our European edition of the the pod as we welcome the Champions Cup back with open arms! We've got our red wine and cheeseboard ready in honour of the French teams and there were some cracking games for us to discuss.
Big Story Roundup
Gatland's law is no more as Welsh rugby throw out the existing selection rules for the national team like a burnt rarebit and instead become the Saga of rugby nations with only over 60s allowed.
Champions Cup Recap
A truly fantastic return for the Champions Cup with exciting games all over the shop.
Northampton got deja vu against Saracens, who seem hellbent on singe-handedly ruining their season.
Ulster and Leinster stormed to victories on the Emerald Isle.
A Lamb lead La Rochelle sent Quins to the slaughter and Scarlets nearly left Toulon red faced.
In the Bin features
As always, we will both give our Try of the Week, Hit of the Week and our favourite opportunity to rant, Bin Juice.
We both did pretty well in our predictions this past week and will look to repeat the feat as we look forward to Round 2 of the Champions Cup next week.
'In the Bin' is back with a bumper edition of the pod as we ruck our way through the domestic leagues, internationals & look ahead to the return of the Champions Cup!
Big Story Roundup
It’s been a scintillating week of rugby from Cape Town to Exeter, but to kick things off this week, we will be taking 10 minutes out for an HIA to discuss the mounting injury crisis in the Aviva Premiership and whether there will be any players left for next week’s games.
In the Premiership’s weekend games, Jamie George gets hooked on tries as Sarries dismiss Wasps. Gloucester continue to ruin our predictions by giving the Saints hell and Exeter bring the Falcons back down to earth at Sandy Park.
Quins recover their home comforts and Sale away with the points. London Irish salvage a bonus point against Tigers & Wasps look a bit of a mess.
Pro 14 Recap
The glut of bonus points in the Pro 14 dried up slightly, but the excitement didn’t as Glasgow bit back for the race of men by becoming the first team to win away at the Cheetahs in a barnstormer of a game. Leinster edged out Munster in the big derby game of the weekend and the Kings continue to play like peasants as they are trounced by Benneton Treviso.
We round up the other Welsh & Irish derby games as well as glossing over a dour game in Edinburgh.
In the southern hemisphere, NZ conclude their second, consecutive unbeaten Rugby Championship, but with a much closer than predicted victory over SA.
And finally Champions Cup rugby is back! We will preview the opening fixtures, including games between sides that finished 5th and 10th in their respective leagues last year. Makes sense given the name of the competition doesn’t it….?
The 'In the Bin' Rugby Pod returns for another week of rugby news, game analysis and ranting with Andy & Paddy.
Big Story Roundup
Eddie Jones sidesteps Jonathan Joseph and pulls the plug on Kyle Sinckler in his latest England squad announcement.
Sean O'Brien dives in and turns over the Lions coaches.
Newcastle Falcons swooped into the Rec & took maximum points. Exeter started with 31 phases & finished with 31 points to take the sting out of Wasps. At the Stoop, yellow card decisions stooped to a new low.
Pro 14 Recap
Glasgow kissed Munster goodbye & proof that the world really has gone mad as Italian and South African sides win games.
Try of the week, hit of the week & Bin Juice! We expect bonus points galore in our predictions for next week's games!
This week on the 'In the Bin' rugby pod we get a bit carried away and discuss other things in addition to the Aviva Premiership. That's right, actual other things. As usual, there are more opinions flying around than there are rugby fans in the USA and we both go on a bit of a rant.
We begin in familiar territory with a round up of last week's Premiership games. First up, in unfamiliar territory, someone thought it was a good idea for Newcastle to play Saracens in Philadelphia. More of a fumble than a touchdown.
Joe Marler goes fishing and James Haskell takes the bait in a feisty encounter at the Ricoh. Northampton continue their comeback from opening weekend shambles to conquer Bath and Sam Underhill only stopped tackling this morning.
Leicester finally get off the mark against Gloucester, but still look far from convincing. Sale return to winning ways at home against Irish and shock of the week - Worcester lost to Exeter...
Try of the week, hit of the week and our new addition to the squad - Bin juice! (I always thought the smell was Andy)
New Zealand are far too good for South Africa in the Rugby Championship. Argentina's next home games look a bit tasty and the general state of rugby in SA and Australia upsets us.
The Pro 14 has a predictable look to it, but an Italian side really did win a game. I promise that isn't fake news.
We preview next weekend's games in the Premiership and stick our necks out with predictions.
In this week's episode of the 'In the Bin Rugby Pod', we return to discuss the 2017/18 Aviva Premiership's difficult second album.
In fairness, following on from a dazzling opening weekend that contained a blitz of tries was always going to be tougher than getting Fijians to play International rugby for Fiji!
With talking points galore, there is plenty to discuss from our two hosts Andy and Paddy.
'In the Bin' - Part 1
We kick off with a diabolical game up at Sale, before giving you a healthy dose of medicine by getting stuck into Bath and Saracens. An intriguing clash that was sprinkled with some Rokoduguni magic.
Leicester just aren't Leicester-like anymore and we actually say good things about Northampton.... well, lukewarm things. Gloucester are still really Gloucester-like and Quins get their act together. Wasps & Exeter pick up expected wins against Worcester and Irish, but neither were as easy as you might think.
You get the treat of our new feature - try of the week and hit of the week.
A pair of absolute beauties to get us off the mark.
'In the Bin' Part 2
As well, we will preview next weekend's games, including a trip to Philadelpha for the Falcons and Saracens. Should be great fun over there......apart from all the Americans!
