2022 Central Division Preview
Thursday Sep 08, 2022
Thursday Sep 08, 2022
Alex and Chace are back and this week, they start their NHL season previews! After wrapping up the Top 20 lists last week, they switch their view to the current season. Today, they preview the 2022 Central Division! However, they start by looking at some massive signings that have occurred over the past week or so. Including a team that Alex's favourite team has made.
After that, they go team-by-team through the Central division. They look at the roster for each team and also look at what would make this a successful season. Asking should this team be looking at playoffs. Or are they a team that should be looking to retool or even rebuild? Finally, they discuss how lopsided of a division this will be and why this might be one of the more boring divisions this season. With a clear favourite, it seems likely the battle for this division will start at spot number two.

Top 20 NHL Goalies
Monday Sep 05, 2022
Monday Sep 05, 2022
Alex and Chace are back with the final week of their Top 20 lists. Today, they examine the best NHL goalies. Maybe the toughest list yet, Alex and Chace go through each goalie on their list and why they have them ranked where they do. Overall, the top of these lists were some of the easier ones. There are 6-7 names everyone would have near the top that you can consider legit starters.
From there, you start to get into more guys who play closer to 40 games instead. Tandem-like goalies that just weren't around even 10 years ago now may be a Top 20 guy in the league. This makes for quite the experiment to balance age, sample size, and results altogether. Listen to Alex and Chace explain their thought process, along with what they used to try and determine it. As well, they compare the lists this year to where they had players ranked last year to explain their thought processes.

Tuesday Aug 23, 2022
Alex and Chace are back with part three of their ranking series! Today, they look at the best NHL defensemen. If you missed centres and wingers, make sure to check those episodes too. First, the guys have news to discuss. They break down the Sean Monahan trade that led to a long-awaited Nazem Kadri deal. How does this affect all parties involved? As well, what does it mean for the future of Carey Price?
Finally, they get into their Top 20 lists. As always, they start with some honourable mentions of players that just missed the cut. From there, they dive into their lists, comparing and contrasting certain players. A few names Alex has much higher than Chace, and vice versa. This leads to interesting discussion and debate on how to evaluate past performance with also including injuries, age, etc moving forward. However, when it gets to the top five of the list, both Alex and Chace are impressed when they have the same names.

NHL Top 20 List - Top 20 Wingers
Thursday Aug 11, 2022
Thursday Aug 11, 2022
Alex and Chace are back with another episode in part two of their top 20 lists. Today, they look at the best NHL wingers in the game. However, they need to look at a bunch of signings first. Starting with some depth names and working their way up. Someone who ranked top five in last week's list signed an extension!
From there, they start on the list. Alex notes how difficult this one was and why he feels there is so much volatility from year to year for the winger's list. Unlike centremen, there is no clear "best" player. Heck, Chace even argues there are upwards of eight guys that could be argued at number one. The guys start with their honourable mentions and work their way from 20 to 1. Breaking down each player on the list and how they got to that particular spot. As always, let the guys know if you agree or disagree with what they have!

Wednesday Aug 10, 2022
Wednesday Aug 10, 2022
Alex and Chace are back with their yearly Top 20 rankings list! Today, they start with the Best NHL Centres. Both the guys have created a list of the Top 20 Centres in the NHL today. However, before they start, they look back at their lists from last season! Who did they have where? And who do they expect to drop?
From there, they start with some honourable mentions. The players that were just outside of the top 20, most of them with a good case to be on the list. Finally, they work their way through the list. Giving their detailed defence as to why they have each player ranked where they did. This year, there were a lot of similarities but not too many exact matches. The guys debate why they have certain players higher or lower than the other and also discuss the idea of tiers for centres. Let them know if you agree or disagree with their rankings and why!

Not only how do the players fit for each team, but what does it mean for each team's future?
From there, the guys switch gears to ask what on Earth the Columbus Blue Jackets are doing? They re-signed Patrik Laine to a deal that then caused them to trade away arguably a better winger who is for sure on a better contract. Alex has a hot take about the Blue Jackets and has done a full 180 on them since the offseason started. Finally, the guys take a look at a handful of smaller news signings that happened and quickly give their opinions on those too.

They start with the first piece that happened since the last podcast. And that would be Ottawa acquiring Cam Talbot in net. They discuss what it means for Ottawa's goalie situation both now and going forward. From there, they take a look at two massive signings in Claude Giroux and Joshua Norris. The guys discuss whether or not Giroux is the biggest free agent signing the Sens have ever had. As well, they also talk about the risk that comes with a Norris signing.
Finally, the guys switch their attention to what kind of deals they want to see for remaining RFA's in Ottawa. As well as how they want to see the right side of the defence upgraded upon.
